Today is World Oceans Day!

World Oceans Day is a celebration of our world’s largest life source. Covering over 70% of our planet, our oceans support every organism on earth. They produce over 50% of our oxygen, are home to most of the earth’s biodiversity, and are the main source of protein for more than a billion people on earth.

Now, our oceans need our help. Due to human impact, 90% of big fish populations have been depleted and 50% of coral reefs have been destroyed. To protect and preserve our oceans, we need to stop taking more than can be replenished.

The purpose of World Oceans Day is to inform the public about the issues that our oceans face. By spreading awareness, we can move forward with protecting our planet.
