Hol Chan Marine Reserve & Shark Ray Alley
It’s no secret– Belize is one of the best snorkeling destinations in the world!
Come and join us for our half-day snorkeling tour, and experience the two best spots on Ambergris Caye: Hol Chan and Shark Ray Alley.
Hol Chan Marine Reserve is world famous for its impressive coral formations and colorful, curious marine life like the splendid Rainbow Parrot Fish, Horse Eye Jacks, Tarpon, Blue Tangs, Angel Fish, and more.
Your second snorkel stop is the feeding grounds of Shark Ray Alley. Swim with the rather docile Nurse Sharks and friendly Southern Stingrays, barracudas, groupers, and others. Enjoy following your guide as they feed and show you these awe-inspiring creatures, all within their underwater world of wonder.
Realizing the importance of the coral reef community off Ambergris Caye, the Government of Belize established the Hol Chan Marine Reserve on May 2, 1987. Shark Ray Alley was officially declared Zone “D” of the Hol Chan Marine Reserve on August 31, 1999. Due to its protected status, what was once a depleted fishing area has now been allowed to repopulate, providing an unparalleled diving and snorkeling experience for visitors, as well as an important refuge for marine life along the northern section of the Belize Barrier Reef.
